How to use SEO Topic Research Sheets to Accelerate SEO

Here is an example from an SEO Topic Research Sheet: What Is SEO? (see the report below and then scroll further down for the guide

There are multiple sections in a Topic Research Sheet. The topic research provided helps you write quality SEO content.

Here is a breakdown of the sections:

Overview

The Overview section provides high-level data points including average word count, links per source, prominent title topics, and must-include topics. You want to make sure your article reaches the average word count at a minimum. If the average word count provided for your query is low (below 1,500 words) that could be an opportunity to create a much longer article, to help Google notice and pick you as the winner against less comprehensive articles.

Sources

A list of the top results in Google for the researched topic. We use it as a starting point for an AI-powered analysis where outgoing and incoming links to those sites are scraped for additional information and content. You can use them and other links presented below to build an RSS feed directory for pulling news and content to your blog.

Topics

List of the most important topics. The Topic Research Sheets analyzes the full text of search results to extract key topics and sorts them by importance and provides you with a list of topics/concepts you should incorporate in your content. These can be used for categories and/or tags and mentioned and/or used in H2s/subsections within the content. This helps boost overall “rankability” score.

It’s important to make sure your article is comprehensive and covers all the topics. Do not compromise readability by just stuffing topics into your article. Instead, add new sections and make your article longer.

Highlights for Top Topics

This section provides you with the most important information about each topic from the highest-ranking sites on Google. Rewrite the content in your own words (or spin it) to make sure that search engines recognise your site as for each one of those topics/keywords. Use a tool like Ubersuggest to find sub-topics and long-tail keywords which are easier to rank for than the main topics/keywords.

Statistics

Our Topic Research Sheets identifies sentences that mention facts and statistics across search results. Most people enjoy reading content that is backed up by facts and reputable information. Incorporate as many statistics as possible in your article to show your readers how much you care about research.

Summaries

The Topic Research Sheet generates a bulleted summary for each source. Just like the Highlights for Top Topics above, summaries are useful to get a high-level understanding of your competitor’s content and for inspiration. Visit their sites, read their content in full and find what you can add to or cross-reference between the different sources.

Links

It is critical that you include links that point to authoritative sites when you write content for SEO. In cases where the average link count is on the high side (at least ten per source), you know that your competitors' sites have well written, educational content that needs a lot of supporting context and detailed explanations.

Tip 1: Where appropriate to do so, embed links in your content to things like YouTube videos.

Tip 2: Use the linked sites for finding RSS-feeds with high authority which can provide content for your own site and also mash with your own site-feed thus boosting your site's authority.

Conclusion

Topic Sheets save you time doing article research and lets you be strategic and focus on creativity.
Use data from the Topic Sheets to make sure your content meets the goals necessary to successfully rank on Google.
User intent: Is your content addressing a specific user query?
Topic optimization: Are your topics helping Google understand why your content is the best possible choice?
Long-form: Are you providing detailed and authoritative content?
Keep it human: AI and automation are great, but your readers are human. Find a balance where technology makes you more productive, but also more human.
